# Move a Website

> Bring your existing website over at the same addresses.

Already have a website? Mira can move it over. Its pages, words, images and SEO tags come over at the same addresses,
then she rebuilds the design in Astro. See [How Your Site Is Built](https://docs.boostgpt.co/site/how-its-built.md) for why.

**1. Start the move**

Open **New Site**, choose **Move a website** and enter your website's address.

**2. Let it read your pages**

Every page comes over when it's done. To pick them yourself, choose **Choose pages instead** while it reads. You can
leave the page: we'll email you when your Site is ready.

**3. Watch the rebuild**

Mira rebuilds the design one section at a time, as a chain of cards on your Site's board. You can watch her work in
the builder.

**4. Check it and publish**

Check your pages, ask for any changes, then publish.

Your plan sets how many pages can come over. See [Plans & Credits](https://docs.boostgpt.co/plans-and-credits.md). The rebuild uses credits.

## Keeping old links working

After each build, `/IMPORT.md` in your Site marks every old address as live, redirected or missing, so you can see what
needs attention. Ask Mira to fix anything marked missing.

To send an old address somewhere new, add it to `/redirects.json`. It only applies when no page exists at that address:

```json theme={null}
[{ "from": "/old-page", "to": "/new-page", "status": 301 }]
```

## Going live

Moving a website doesn't touch your old one. It keeps running until you point your domain at your new Site. See
[Custom Domain](https://docs.boostgpt.co/site/custom-domain.md).
